Today, the Fiji Police Force family convened for the dedication service of their 2024 Ratu Sukuna Tournament and festive season operations at the Suva Civic Centre. Acting Commissioner of Police, Juki Fong Chew, emphasized the significance of the church service as a time for unity and divine guidance in anticipation of the important events ahead.
Chew likened this gathering to a strategic meeting before a major operation, stating the importance of synchronization among the teams to ensure they are all aligned for success. He highlighted that, alongside the competitive spirit of the 2024 Ratu Sukuna campaign, maintaining a safe and enjoyable festive season is a top priority for the force and the community.
Expressing gratitude, Chew recognized the invaluable support from family members, who often make sacrifices for their loved ones in service. The Fiji Police Force also acknowledged the ongoing support from the Australian Federal Police, who provided logistical assistance for the #88blues campaign.
During the service, attended by AFP Senior Pacific Liaison Officer Superintendent Adrian Morton and Detective Inspector Paul Everingham, the sporting kits for all teams were blessed by the Force Chaplain, Assistant Superintendent of Police Joeli Mawi. The tournament is set to kick off with boxing competitions this Tuesday, followed by the highly anticipated rugby match between the Shop & Save Police Blues and the Republic of Fiji Military Forces on Saturday, November 9, at the HFC Stadium in Suva.
This event not only showcases the athletic abilities of the police force but also serves as a reminder of the camaraderie and community spirit among law enforcement and its supporters. As they prepare for the tournament and festive season, the Fiji Police Force reiterates its commitment to safety and fostering a strong connection with the community.
Overall, this dedication marks a hopeful start to what promises to be an exciting and community-focused celebration.
