The Fiji Police Force gathered today at the Suva Civic Centre for a dedication service aimed at their 2024 Ratu Sukuna Tournament and festive season operations. Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew emphasized the importance of this gathering, describing it as a moment for the police community to seek divine guidance in preparation for the upcoming major events.

Chew highlighted the significance of unity, stating, “This is a time to synchronize before a battle, just as we would during a major raid. We need to ensure everyone is on the same winning frequency.” He stressed that just as the focus is on victory during the Ratu Sukuna campaign, the same attention should be given to conducting operations that ensure a safe and pleasant festive season for everyone.

In his remarks, Chew expressed gratitude to the families of the officers for their sacrifices and wished all teams success in the tournament. The Fiji Police Force also recognized the support from the Australian Federal Police, which once again provided logistical assistance for the #88blues campaign.

During the service, AFP Senior Pacific Liaison Officer Superintendent Adrian Morton and Detective Inspector Paul Everingham participated in the event, where the sporting kits for all teams were blessed by the Force Chaplain, Assistant Superintendent of Police Joeli Mawi.

The 2024 Ratu Sukuna tournament will kick off on Tuesday with boxing matches, leading up to the main rugby challenge between the Shop & Save Police Blues and the Republic of Fiji Military Forces on Saturday, November 9, at HFC Stadium in Suva.

This event not only showcases the athletic spirit within the Fiji Police Force but also reflects their commitment to community safety and camaraderie, bringing together law enforcement and community members for a celebration of sportsmanship and support.
