The Acting Commissioner of Police, Juki Fong Chew, has expressed his support for Rusiate Tudravu, who has been appointed as the new Commissioner of Police (COMPOL). Mr. Chew highlighted Mr. Tudravu’s experience, particularly his time as acting COMPOL and his external evaluation of the police force, suggesting that he brings a valuable fresh perspective to the role.

As Mr. Chew approaches the end of his two-year term, he reflected on the transitional challenges faced by the police and the Coalition government, emphasizing their commitment to serving the people of Fiji. During a recent ceremony honoring over 300 police officers, both retired and active, Mr. Chew encouraged them to maintain their support for Mr. Tudravu, urging them to remain focused on their mission and not to be swayed by negativity or distractions.

Mr. Tudravu, poised to begin his duties next month, acknowledged Mr. Chew’s leadership and indicated a desire to keep a low profile for the time being, promising to make a public statement in due course. Following this transition, Mr. Chew will revert to his role as Deputy Police Commissioner and is set to commence his leave this week.

This leadership change holds promise for the Fiji police force, as new perspectives can often lead to innovative approaches to existing challenges. By fostering unity and focusing on service delivery, the organization aims to strengthen its commitment to the community it serves.

In summary, the transition in leadership marks a hopeful new chapter for the Fiji police force, with a call for unity and service prevailing among its members.
