The Fiji Police Force recently convened at the Suva Civic Centre for a dedication service as they prepared for the 2024 Ratu Sukuna Tournament and the upcoming festive season operations. Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew emphasized the importance of unity within the policing family, likening the gathering to rallying before a significant operation to ensure they are all aligned for success.
Chew highlighted that while there is a strong focus on triumph during the 2024 Ratu Sukuna campaign, maintaining safety and a positive environment during the festive season is equally critical. He expressed gratitude to the families of the officers for their continual support and acknowledged their sacrifices.
The Fiji Police also extended appreciation to the Australian Federal Police, who contributed logistical support for the #88blues campaign. Senior officers from the Australian Federal Police participated in the service, where ceremonial blessings were bestowed on the sporting kits for the teams by the Force Chaplain, Assistant Superintendent of Police Joeli Mawi.
The tournament kicks off on Tuesday with the boxing competition, culminating in the main rugby match between the Shop & Save Police Blues and the Republic of Fiji Military Forces on Saturday, November 9, at the HFC Stadium in Suva.
This gathering not only embodies the spirit of competition but also reflects the strong community ties that law enforcement fosters. It serves as a reminder that teamwork and support are instrumental in both sporting events and ensuring public safety during the festive season.
Overall, the collective efforts of the Fiji Police Force and their partners illustrate a commitment to excellence and community well-being, promising an engaging and safe environment for all in the weeks to come.
