The application period for the role of Commissioner of Police in Fiji is set to conclude tomorrow, signaling an important transition for the Fiji Police Force as a new leader will soon be appointed.
This upcoming appointment follows a year of interim leadership under Acting Police Commissioner Juki Fong Chew. Chew has served in this acting capacity for over a year after the suspension of former Commissioner Sitiveni Qiliho. Although he will not be seeking the permanent position, he remains positive about the future of the Fiji Police Force and believes that the new appointment will foster positive changes and further reinforce the organization.
“The closing is tomorrow, that is the last day of September. I leave it to the process and let it take its course, and we will find out who the successful applicant is,” Chew stated.
The Constitutional Offices Commission will make the final decision regarding the new Commissioner after thoroughly reviewing the candidates.
