Home Affairs Minister Pio Tikoduadua has announced that his primary focus regarding the Fiji Police Force is the implementation of the Reset Program, which will assist in guiding the incoming police commissioner.
The Constitutional Offices Commission recently advertised the position of police commissioner after a lengthy period of uncertainty following the resignation of former commissioner Sitiveni Qiliho last month.
Tikoduadua elaborated, stating, “The requirements for candidates are outlined in the advertisement that was published by the COC on Saturday and is set to be released again today. They will review the applications, and while I must be consulted according to the Constitution, my main priority as the minister in charge of police is the police reset.”
He noted that he has already drafted policy guidelines on behalf of the government to support the new police commissioner in rejuvenating the police force moving forward.
The advertisement seeks applicants who are dedicated to ensuring the Fiji Police Force is recognized as an accountable, transparent, and non-corrupt entity. Moreover, it emphasizes the need for individuals with strong public relations skills, effective management of staff and resources, and the necessary leadership qualities.
The deadline for applications is September 30.
