The Fiji Police Force came together at the Suva Civic Centre today to hold a dedication service focused on the upcoming 2024 Ratu Sukuna Tournament and the festive season operations. Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew emphasized the importance of unity within the policing family, stating that this gathering serves as a time to align their efforts as they prepare for two significant events in the coming weeks.
Chew remarked on the need for synchronization before the challenges ahead, comparing their gathering to preparations for a successful raid. He stressed that the pursuit of victory in the Ratu Sukuna campaign should align with their commitment to ensuring a safe festive season for the public. He took a moment to express his best wishes to all teams participating in the tournament and acknowledged the vital support from their families, highlighting the sacrifices made in service of their community.
Additionally, the Fiji Police Force expressed gratitude to the Australian Federal Police for their ongoing support of the #88blues campaign and their logistical contributions. Senior officials from the AFP, including Superintendent Adrian Morton and Detective Inspector Paul Everingham, participated in the dedication service, during which the sporting kits for all teams were blessed by Force Chaplain Assistant Superintendent of Police Joeli Mawi.
The 2024 Ratu Sukuna tournament kicks off on Tuesday with boxing competitions, culminating in the main rugby match between the Shop & Save Police Blues and the Republic of Fiji Military Forces on Saturday, November 9th, at the HFC Stadium in Suva.
