The application period for the Commissioner of Police position will end tomorrow, a crucial step for the Fiji Police Force as a new leader is set to be appointed.
This announcement follows a year of interim leadership under Acting Police Commissioner Juki Fong Chew. Chew has served in an acting capacity for over a year after the former Commissioner, Sitiveni Qiliho, was suspended. Although Chew will not be seeking the permanent role, he remains hopeful about the future of the Fiji Police Force and believes that the new appointment will enhance and improve the institution.
“The closing is tomorrow, that is the last day of the month of September. I leave it to the process and let it take its course, and we will get to know who is the successful applicant,” Chew stated.
The final decision regarding the new Commissioner will be made by the Constitutional Offices Commission after thoroughly reviewing the candidates.
