The Fiji Police Force gathered at the Suva Civic Centre today to hold a dedication service for the 2024 Ratu Sukuna Tournament and the upcoming festive season operations. Acting Police Commissioner Juki Fong Chew emphasized the significance of the church service as a moment for the police community to unite and seek divine guidance for the critical events on the horizon.
Chew conveyed the importance of coming together, comparing it to the preparation that occurs before a major raid. He highlighted the need for a collective focus on both the Ratu Sukuna campaign and maintaining a safe and enjoyable festive season for the public. He expressed his best wishes to all teams involved and acknowledged the vital support of their families.
The Fiji Police Force also expressed gratitude towards the Australian Federal Police for their assistance with the #88blues campaign, particularly their logistical support. AFP Senior Pacific Liaison Officer Superintendent Adrian Morton and Detective Inspector Paul Everingham attended the ceremony, where sporting kits for all teams were blessed by the Force Chaplain, Assistant Superintendent of Police Joeli Mawi.
The sports tournament is set to kick off on Tuesday with boxing competitions, leading up to the main rugby match between the Shop & Save Police Blues and the Republic of Fiji Military Forces, scheduled for Saturday, November 9th, at the HFC Stadium in Suva.
In essence, this event illustrates the Fiji Police Force’s commitment to community safety and unity, all while fostering sportsmanship and collaboration with international partners. The upcoming tournament not only serves as a competitive platform but also strengthens bonds within the law enforcement community and promotes positive engagement with the public.
