Fiji’s police officers are currently undergoing training in public order management, facilitated by the Australian Federal Police (AFP). This training initiative builds upon previous efforts, as the AFP had contributed equipment specifically designed for public order management in October.

The Fiji Police Force noted that this equipment will support the Police Mobile Force in conducting specialized operations while also advancing Fiji’s goal of enhancing training in public order management across the region.

This training is part of a larger collaboration established under the Solesolevaki Memorandum of Understanding, signed in October 2022, which aims to reinforce partnerships in addressing security challenges faced by both Fiji and other Pacific nations.

By investing in the training and resources for public order management, Fiji is taking significant steps to bolster its security capabilities and foster greater cooperation with international partners. This is a positive development not only for Fiji but also for regional stability as it reflects a commitment to ensuring safety and security within the Pacific.
