Fiji Police Crackdown on Drug Trade Ahead of Busy Season

The Fiji Police Force is intensifying its drug operations ahead of the school holidays, festivals, meetings, and conferences, which are expected to prompt increased public movement. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, has issued a warning to individuals engaged in the illegal drug trade that they will face consequences. ACP Driu mentioned that recent raids on farms have yielded significant findings in Kadavu, resulting in arrests for unlawful possession of illicit drugs. He urged the community to provide information via the hotline 917 or through Crime Stoppers at 919 to assist in mitigating the impact of illicit drugs. Additionally, the K9 units are being bolstered by support from the New Zealand Police under the Fiji Police Partnership Programme, enhancing the capabilities of Fiji Police’s Dog Patrol in collaboration with the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service.
