Fiji Police have apprehended a man in Tailevu for reportedly selling liquor from his residence. The arrest occurred following a raid on June 2, during which authorities discovered and seized several cans of various alcoholic beverages at the suspect’s home, situated within a village area. The individual remains in custody as investigations are ongoing.

The Fiji Police Force has issued a call for public cooperation, urging citizens to report any illegal liquor sales. They highlighted that incidents related to alcohol can lead to severe harm and loss of life, underscoring the seriousness of the situation.

This event mirrors recent police activity in Tacirua, where a woman was similarly arrested for operating an unlicensed liquor sales business. During that raid, police confiscated over 100 cans and bottles of alcohol, with officials emphasizing that unauthorized liquor sales often correlate with other criminal activities. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, stressed the importance of disrupting illegal markets, indicating a commitment to public safety and law enforcement efficacy.

Such proactive measures from law enforcement not only aim to curb illegal liquor sales but also seek to foster safer community environments, reflecting a broader initiative to combat crime and protect public health.
