Three police officers from Fiji have successfully completed advanced regional training in Australia, a program designed to enhance the country’s ability to provide security across the Pacific region. Acting Inspector Lepani Rokodudu, Acting Sergeant Anare Raubeci, and Constable Kalivati Nateru participated in the training at the Pinkenba Training Hub in Brisbane.

Upon their return, the officers met with the Commissioner of Police, Rusiate Tudravu, who underscored the significance of the training in improving the Fiji Police’s capacity to support regional operations and address emerging security challenges more effectively.

These officers were part of the Pacific Police Support Group, a multinational unit that is prepared to respond to major events, natural disasters, and internal security situations swiftly. The group is backed by the Australian Federal Police as part of the Pacific Policing Initiative, which is crucial for maintaining safety and order within Pacific communities.

The Fiji Police Force has been actively engaged in the initiative, with previous deployments to Vanuatu and Samoa, where Fijian officers also acted as trainers during the initial stages of the program at Pinkenba. This ongoing training demonstrates Fiji’s commitment to regional security and readiness, further strengthening the nation’s capacity to contribute to overall safety efforts in the Pacific.

The return of these officers marks an encouraging step towards enhancing regional cooperation and security, reflecting Fiji’s dedication to fostering peace and stability among Pacific nations.
