Fiji Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu reaffirmed the integrity of the Fiji Police Force, insisting that the institution is not corrupt. During a press conference held this morning, he pointed to the recent arrests and charges against police officers involved in illegal activities as a positive indication of the proactive measures being taken to address misconduct.

Tudravu stated, “We are working hard to resolve issues that are impacting public confidence, by fostering a culture of transparency, responsibility, and accountability amongst the ranks.” He emphasized the importance of restoring faith in policing, affirming that this can only be achieved through establishing the truth via open and transparent investigations.

The Commissioner made it clear that all allegations will be thoroughly investigated, with due processes in place. He also cautioned against the misuse of the Fiji Police Force for personal agendas, asserting that the organization will not shy away from investigating anyone spreading disinformation for their own gain.

He noted that there has been a tendency among some individuals to selectively highlight issues on social media in an attempt to discredit the police force and its ongoing efforts. Tudravu acknowledged that despite efforts to clarify factual information through mainstream media, certain narratives continue to persist, which he deemed unfortunate.

This commitment to transparency and accountability could bolster public confidence in the Fiji Police Force. By addressing issues head-on and conducting thorough investigations, the police aim to not only correct any wrongdoings but also to mend relationships with the community they serve.
