The Fiji Police Boxing Team has emerged as the overall champion of the Vodafone Sukuna Bowl Boxing Challenge held at the LICI Courts in Laucala Bay. The team secured victory in five out of the nine final categories, showcasing their impressive skills throughout the competition.
Petero Vunivalu of the Police team earned his first gold medal by defeating Emosi Vucago in the 60-63kg category. Additionally, he clinched a second gold in the 63.5-67kg division, where he won against Army’s Meli Cabebula by unanimous points decision.
The Police team continued their success with Josaia Veiqaravi overpowering Isikeli Rogoyawa of the Army in the 67-71kg division. Furthermore, Vilimoni Naivaluwaqa delivered a remarkable knockout against Army’s Meli Naumi in the same weight class. Victor Rova rounded off the Police victories, winning a tight bout against fellow officer Nemani Tuinalolo by points decision.
On the other hand, the Army team secured gold medals as well. Keleto Tawake triumphed over Rusiate Qalo in the 57-60kg category. Aminiasi Saratibau also claimed victory in the 75-80kg weight division against Naibuka Kumuiwalu on points. The Army had an all-comrade face-off in the 80-86kg category, where Samuela Naqiri won against Vilimoni Drotini. The Army concluded the night with Sakiusa Narara earning a win over Police’s Solomoni Tikoisuva.
