Fiji police officers are currently undergoing training in public order management, facilitated by the Australian Federal Police (AFP). This initiative aligns with the AFP’s recent donation of essential equipment for public order management in October.
According to the Fiji Police Force, this equipment will not only enhance the capabilities of the Police Mobile Force in specialized operations but is also expected to support Fiji’s mission of providing training within the region.
This training is part of the broader collaboration established through the Solesolevaki Memorandum of Understanding, which was formalized in October 2022, fortifying the partnership between the AFP and Fiji Police Force. The aim is to collectively address security vulnerabilities in both countries and the broader Pacific region.
This partnership stands as a testament to the strengthening ties between Australia and Fiji, reflecting a shared commitment to regional security and stability. With continued support and training from Australian partners, Fiji is taking significant steps towards bolstering its law enforcement capabilities.
In a time when regional security is paramount, such cooperation is a positive development for both nations, promoting safety and cooperation across the Pacific.
