Fiji Police and AFP Deepen Regional Security Partnership

The Fiji Police Force welcomed Australian Federal Police Commissioner Krissy Barrett and her senior executive team in Suva today, further solidifying the partnership between the two institutions. This visit marks an important milestone in their ongoing collaboration aimed at enhancing regional security.

Upon her arrival, Commissioner Barrett was greeted with a formal quarter guard of honor by Fiji Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu. The occasion included a traditional welcome ceremony, commemorating Barrett’s inaugural official visit to Fiji.

During the meeting, Commissioner Tudravu expressed gratitude for the enduring support provided by the Australian Federal Police (AFP), emphasizing how it has bolstered policing capabilities within Fiji and the broader Pacific region. Commissioner Barrett echoed this sentiment, highlighting the AFP’s enthusiasm to collaborate with the Fiji Police Force to tackle complex and emerging criminal threats in the area.

The delegation received insights into the evolution of the Fiji Police Force and discussed various initiatives, notably the AFP-supported Uplift program, which aims to foster public trust and confidence in law enforcement.

This visit reinforces the commitments established under the Solesolevaki Memorandum of Understanding, emphasizing the shared dedication both forces have toward enhancing regional safety and collaboration in policing efforts. The partnership is poised to contribute positively to the security landscape in the Pacific, showcasing a robust alliance characterized by mutual support and shared goals.
