Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has called on Fijians to better utilize their land as a practical solution to combat the rising cost of living and enhance food security in the nation. During a recent address in Matakunea, Cakaudrove, he highlighted the significance of land as one of Fiji’s most valuable resources, emphasizing its potential to yield both sustenance and income when managed effectively.
“Every day we hear people talking about the rise in the cost of living – make use of your land,” Mr. Rabuka stated, urging families to engage in planting their own vegetables, crops, and fruits. He pointed out that focusing on agriculture and promoting self-sufficiency can enhance the resilience of households and communities during challenging times.
Mr. Rabuka also advocated for coordinated efforts among landowners, arguing that such cooperation could lead to sustainable development and long-term prosperity for the region.
In a broader economic context, Finance Minister Esrom Immanuel addressed concerns over escalating tensions between the US and Iran, which pose potential risks to the global economy.
