The search for a new coach for the Fiji Pearls netball team is set to kick off next week. The previous coach, Unaisi Rokoura, who is a former Netball Fiji representative, has completed her contract with the organization. According to RubyAnn Sorovaki, president of Netball Fiji, the initial phase of the recruitment process is finalized, and interviews will commence shortly.

The applicants for this coaching position are understood to be overseas coaches, indicating a potential for fresh perspectives and strategies for the team. Rokoura, appointed as head coach in 2021, notably guided the Pearls to World Cup qualification in 2022 through the Oceania Qualifier held at the Vodafone Arena in Suva. Additionally, she led the team to an 11th place finish at the 2023 World Cup in Cape Town.

This transition in coaching leadership presents an exciting opportunity for the Fiji Pearls to rebuild and enhance their competitive edge on the international stage. As the interview process unfolds, there is optimism that a new coach will bring in innovative ideas and further elevate the team’s performance in future competitions.

In summary, the upcoming recruitment process for the Fiji Pearls’ new coach is expected to start next week, following the successful tenure of Unaisi Rokoura. With the chance to engage overseas coaching talent, there is hope for continued growth and improvement for the Pearls as they prepare for future challenges.
