The process of selecting a new coach for the Fiji Pearls netball team is set to commence next week. This follows the conclusion of the contract held by Unaisi Rokoura, a former Netball Fiji representative. RubyAnn Sorovaki, the president of Netball Fiji, confirmed that the initial phase of recruitment has been successfully completed, paving the way for interviews to begin shortly.

The pool of candidates for the coaching position reportedly includes coaches from overseas, indicating a search for diverse strategies and perspectives to enhance the team’s performance. Rokoura has been at the helm since 2021, guiding the Pearls to significant achievements, including World Cup qualification in 2022 during the Oceania Qualifier held at Vodafone Arena in Suva. Under her leadership, the team also participated in the 2023 World Cup in Cape Town, where they finished in 11th place.

This transition presents an exciting opportunity for the Fiji Pearls as they look to further develop their capabilities on the international netball stage. The incoming coach will have the chance to build on the foundation laid by Rokoura and potentially elevate the team’s performance in future competitions.

In summary, the Fiji Pearls are on the brink of a new chapter with the upcoming coaching appointments, aiming for greater success in netball on both regional and global platforms. The organizational commitment to finding the right leader for the team underscores a hopeful outlook for the future.
