The Fiji Pearls are on a tight schedule as they prepare for the upcoming PacAusSports Series, set to take place in Brisbane, Australia in just five weeks. The extended training squad recently held a regrouping and fitness session at the FMF Gymnasium in Laucala Bay, Suva.
Head coach Jioweli Vakamoce emphasized the significance of fitness in their preparations, noting, “We will need to continue with their fitness and the court combination, skills combination, so that will be the only thing we will continue to look at in the next five weeks.”
During the training, players faced challenging tests designed to push their limits, focusing on both strength and endurance to enhance their performance. The team is also adapting strategies from their male counterparts, who recently achieved success in Singapore. Vakamoce mentioned, “We designed a new program for the men, and we are adopting a few points for the Pearls now, and we are hoping that it will work for them as well.”
This determination to improve and adapt shows the commitment of the Fiji Pearls as they aim to excel in the upcoming competition. Building on the momentum of their male teammates, the Pearls are clearly focused on growth and success in their preparations.
In summary, the Fiji Pearls are ramping up their training with a strong emphasis on fitness and strategic adaptation from the men’s team as they gear up for an important series in February. The teamwork and dedication displayed by the squad are commendable and offer hope for their forthcoming performance in Brisbane.
