The Fiji Pearls netball team kicked off their first regrouping and fitness training session at the FMF Gymnasium in Laucala Bay, Suva, as they prepare for the upcoming PacAusSports Series in Brisbane, Australia next month. A total of 56 players from seven different districts convened to start their preparations.

Head coach Jioweli Vakamoce supervised the training, which included a range of fitness components. He outlined the five key fitness areas they focused on: agility, endurance, vertical jump height, and core strength. Vakamoce emphasized the importance of assessing the players’ current fitness levels as this will guide their training over the next five weeks.

Looking ahead, he expressed optimism about the Pearls’ performance this season, especially in light of the recent success of their male counterparts, who triumphed in the Men’s Netball Nations Cup in Singapore. Vakamoce hopes that this achievement will serve as motivation for the female team to improve their ranking, as they currently sit at 14th place with 79 points.

This initiative demonstrates the Fiji Pearls’ commitment to building a stronger team through focused training and motivation, aiming for significant improvements as they prepare for international competition.

In a positive light, the team’s enthusiastic start reflects a determination to not only enhance their skills but also to elevate their standing in the sport. With a dedicated approach and strong support, the Fiji Pearls have the potential for a successful season ahead.
