The Fiji Pearls netball team initiated their training with a focus on fitness and performance at the FMF Gymnasium in Laucala Bay, Suva. The session saw participation from 56 players across seven districts as they gear up for the upcoming PacAusSports Series to be held in Brisbane, Australia next month.
Head coach Jioweli Vakamoce led the training, emphasizing the importance of assessing the players’ fitness levels. “We started with several fitness components, focusing on agility, endurance, jump height, and core strength,” Vakamoce stated. He highlighted the need to understand the players’ current skill levels to effectively plan their training over the next five weeks.
While the men’s team recently celebrated victory at the Men’s Netball Nations Cup in Singapore, Vakamoce expressed hope that this success would inspire the women’s team to enhance their performance and possibly improve their current ranking of 14th place in the world with 79 points.
As the Fiji Pearls embark on this pivotal training phase, there is an optimistic outlook for their upcoming competitions, showcasing the team’s dedication and resilience. With continued hard work and support, there’s potential for significant growth and success in the season ahead.
