Netball Fiji has announced an extensive training camp for the Fiji Pearls this Saturday, with an impressive turnout of 58 netters anticipated to participate. This one-day event will bring together the athletes and coaching staff from both the Fiji Pearls and the national men’s netball team, emphasizing skill enhancement and conditioning as part of the preparations for an active year ahead for Netball Fiji.

The Pearls are preparing for a series of competitions, which will include one local tournament and three international events scheduled from July to October 2023. This initiative aligns with Netball Fiji’s commitment to elevate their competitive performance and improve their world ranking. Currently, Fiji’s ranking hindered their opportunity to qualify for the Commonwealth Games held in Glasgow, Scotland, as they did not finish in the top 12.

In their statement, Netball Fiji expressed that this camp presents a vital opportunity for reflection and strategy as they gear up for the forthcoming season. “Bringing our national teams together ahead of key fixtures in 2026 reflects how we want to approach performance, collaboration, and excellence in our high-performance space,” the organization shared. They are optimistic that this camp will establish a positive foundation for a successful year for both teams.

The camp is set to take place at the Vodafone Arena in Suva, commencing at 9 AM, with all players advised to arrive by 8 AM. This timely event not only allows the Fiji Pearls to prepare strategically for their competitive season but also fosters a spirit of camaraderie and mutual improvement among the national squads.

The dedication and hard work being put into this camp signify a hopeful outlook for Fiji’s netball future, as the national teams aim to achieve greater heights in upcoming competitions.
