The Fiji Pearls netball team has kicked off their preparation for the upcoming PacAusSports Series in Brisbane, Australia, with a rigorous fitness training session at the FMF Gymnasium in Laucala Bay, Suva. A total of 56 players from seven different districts participated in this important regrouping effort.

Under the guidance of head coach Jioweli Vakamoce, the training emphasized essential fitness components, including agility, endurance, vertical jumping height, and core strength. Vakamoce noted the significance of this initial assessment to understand the players’ current fitness and skill levels as they prepare for the upcoming competition. He expressed the need to gauge their readiness, especially since it’s the beginning of the year and there is a tight five-week timeline for improvement.

In a positive comparison, Vakamoce mentioned the recent success of the men’s team, who won the Men’s Netball Nations Cup in Singapore, emphasizing a hopeful momentum for the Pearls to aim for similar achievements. Currently ranked 14th with 79 points, there is a collective aspiration within the team to improve their ranking and performance this season.

This training session not only marks the beginning of the Fiji Pearls’ journey towards the series but also highlights the dedication and hard work of the players and coaching staff. As they aim for success, the team’s spirit and commitment are key to achieving their goals.

In conclusion, the Fiji Pearls are facing their preparations with determination and hope, eager to enhance their skills and rankings, inspired by the recent triumphs of their male counterparts.
