Fiji Pearls Gear Up for PacAusSports with Intense Training

The Fiji Pearls netball team commenced their training with a focused session at the FMF Gymnasium in Laucala Bay, Suva, as they prepare for the upcoming PacAusSports Series in Brisbane, Australia next month. A total of 56 players from seven districts took part in this initial regroup and fitness training.

Head coach Jioweli Vakamoce outlined the session’s objectives, emphasizing a range of fitness components, including agility, endurance, vertical leap, and core strength. He stated, “We are trying to test them on where they are right now,” indicating the importance of assessing the players’ current skill levels as they gear up for the competitive season.

With the recent achievement of their male counterparts, who won the Men’s Netball Nations Cup in Singapore, Vakamoce expressed optimism for the Pearls’ performance this year. “I’m hoping for the best and I’m hoping it will motivate the Pearls to do better,” he remarked, highlighting his aspirations for improvement in the team’s ranking as well.

Currently, the Fiji Pearls hold a ranking of 14th position with a total of 79 points. This training marks an essential step in their preparation journey, fostering a positive outlook as they strive for better results in the upcoming competitions.

This initiative showcases the team’s commitment and determination to enhance their performance, reflecting a hopeful and ambitious spirit as they move forward in their training.
