The Fiji Pearls netball team is in a race against time as they prepare for the upcoming PacAusSports Series, which is set to take place in Brisbane, Australia, in just five weeks. The extended training squad recently held a fitness and regrouping session at the FMF Gymnasium in Laucala Bay, Suva.

Head coach Jioweli Vakamoce emphasized the importance of fitness during this crucial preparation period. “With only five weeks left before the (Pac)AusSports Series, our focus will be primarily on their fitness,” he stated. The coaching team plans to enhance their athletes’ physical conditioning and refine court and skills combinations over the next month.

The training sessions have been rigorous, pushing players to their limits as they strive to improve their endurance and teamwork. A new strategy inspired by the success of the Fiji men’s netball team in Singapore has been incorporated into their training regimen, as Coach Vakamoce shared their intention to adopt certain concepts from the men’s program for the Pearls.

This commitment to rigorous training and innovative strategies bodes well for the future of the Fiji Pearls. As they draw closer to the tournament, their determination and hard work may well pay off on the court.

In summary, the Fiji Pearls are intensifying their preparations for the upcoming PacAusSports Series, with a strong focus on fitness and teamwork, drawing inspiration from their male counterparts’ recent successes. The next few weeks will be crucial in determining their performance in Brisbane, showcasing their resilience and dedication to the sport.
