The Fiji Pearls netball team has commenced their training for the upcoming PacAusSports Series in Brisbane, Australia, with a focused fitness session held at the FMF Gymnasium in Laucala Bay, Suva. A total of 56 players from seven different districts participated in this important first step towards competition readiness.

Head coach Jioweli Vakamoce led the training, which included a variety of fitness assessments. The team engaged in five key components: agility, endurance, vertical jump height, core stability, and general skill level evaluations. Vakamoce emphasized the significance of understanding the players’ current physical condition as they prepare for the competitive season ahead.

With the recent success of their male counterparts, who captured victory at the Men’s Netball Nations Cup in Singapore, Vakamoce expressed optimism about the Fiji Pearls’ performance this season. He hopes that the men’s achievement will inspire the women’s team and result in improved rankings as they aim to advance from their current position of 14th place with 79 points.

The training marks a promising start for the Fiji Pearls, and their dedication to building fitness and skills is an encouraging sign for their upcoming challenges. As they prepare to compete, there is hope that the team will rise to the occasion, bolstered by both conditioning and the motivational success of their peers.

This proactive approach to fitness and preparation showcases the team’s commitment, offering a positive outlook for the Fiji Pearls as they embark on their season.
