The Speaker of Parliament, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, has announced that the nominations for the appointment of the President of Fiji will not be addressed during today’s session. These items were scheduled as the fourth and fifth points on the Order Paper. Ratu Naiqama stated that these matters would be discussed at a future meeting of Parliament.

This decision follows communications received by the Office of the Speaker regarding scheduled maintenance works by the Water Authority of Fiji, set to begin at midnight tonight. Ratu Naiqama mentioned that the sole urgent item on tomorrow’s Order Paper relates to a Bill proposed by the Prime Minister, which they plan to consider today.

Additionally, he noted the intention to suspend tomorrow’s Parliament session due to impending water cuts affecting residents along the Suva – Nausori corridor. Both Government and Opposition members expressed their support for the motion to suspend the sitting. Ratu Naiqama confirmed he would seek further guidance on the issue.
