A heavy rain alert has been issued for the Central and Eastern division, as well as Southern Bua and Cakaudrove province in Fiji. According to the latest special weather bulletin from the Fiji Meteorological Service, a trough of low pressure is currently positioned over the Southern parts of the Fiji group and is forecasted to drift across the remaining areas starting tomorrow.

In addition, Tropical Disturbance [TD03F] is moving slowly to the Northeast of Fiji and is expected to shift southeast in the coming days. This weather system will bring cloud cover and showers to the Southern and Eastern regions, with occasional heavy rain and thunderstorms anticipated. As the day progresses, the rain is likely to become more frequent and intense.

The weather office has also warned that prolonged heavy rainfall may result in flash flooding, particularly in low-lying and flood-prone areas. Residents are urged to remain vigilant and prepare for potential weather disruptions.

Summary: Central and Eastern regions of Fiji are currently under a heavy rain alert due to a slow-moving trough of low pressure. Increased rainfall and potential flash flooding are expected over the next few days, prompting precautionary measures.

For those in affected areas, it’s essential to stay informed and take necessary precautions to ensure safety during these adverse weather conditions. While heavy rains can be a cause for concern, they also contribute to replenishing water resources and sustaining local ecosystems.
