Flash Flood Warning Maintained for Viti Levu and Vanua Levu

The Fiji Meteorological Service (FMS) has persisted with its flash flood warning for the islands of Viti Levu and Vanua Levu. Substantial rainfall has been impacting these islands, resulting in dangerous conditions.

Dread of Intensified Flooding due to Heavy Rain

The FMS has expressed concern over the continuous rainfall across Fiji. The rainfall activity is escalating, engendering extensive flooding risks. Amid these circumstances, the warning inclines towards an imminent flash flood frisk on Viti Levu and Vanua Levu.

Advisement on Staying Safe in Adverse Weather

The Fiji National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) is advising inhabitants to avoid any non-urgent travels. The regularly updated warnings from FMS entail the residents not to disregard the warning and stay indoors till the weather conditions subside. The FMS is meticulously monitoring the severe weather conditions while providing regular updates to keep the people informed.

Entire Fiji under Heavy Rain Warning

Simultaneously, a heavy rain warning has also been issued for the entirety of Fiji. The FMS has warned that the rainfall could significantly intensify, leading to increased flooding risks across the country.

Risks to Public Safety from Flooding

Potential flooding could lead to dangerous public safety situations. Fiji’s NDMO, therefore, urges everyone to stay aware and take necessary precautions to stay safe during severe weather events. The authorities request all residents to remain vigilant, and to refrain from crossing flooded roads or walkways to avoid putting personal safety at risk.

Though turbulent weather conditions prevail, the FMS and NDMO’s abundance of caution and ongoing efforts play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the people of Fiji. Residents are advised to closely follow the updates given by the authorities to minimize any potential damage.
