A heavy rain advisory has been issued for the Fiji group as weather conditions are poised to change significantly. According to the Nadi Weather Office, an active trough of low pressure is moving in from the north and is projected to affect the region later today.

Residents can expect occasional heavy rainfall and thunderstorms, with the most intense conditions anticipated in the northern areas of Fiji, gradually spreading across the islands by tomorrow. The weather service has highlighted the potential for localized heavy rainfall, which may lead to flash flooding in low-lying regions.

In addition, the forecast indicates that isolated thunderstorms could develop in the southern and interior parts of Viti Levu. Areas such as Sigatoka, interior Nadroga-Navosa, Serua-Namosi, Navua, Suva, Nausori, Naitasiri, as well as southern Bua and Cakaudrove, may also experience these weather disturbances.

It’s essential for residents and visitors to stay informed about weather updates and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety during this period of adverse weather conditions. This reminder to be prepared allows communities to come together and support one another in facing the challenges posed by nature.
