Fiji is bracing for adverse weather conditions as Tropical Disturbance TD03F is projected to enter its waters early next week. The Fiji Meteorological Service has warned that the system will likely impact the islands from Tuesday through Wednesday.

While the potential for this disturbance to escalate into a tropical cyclone is currently deemed low, its accompanying trough is already having effects on the region. A heavy rain alert is in effect for all of Fiji, with a flash flood alert issued for vulnerable low-lying areas and small streams.

Forecasters indicate that rainfall will intensify starting Monday night, raising concerns about flash and river flooding due to already saturated soils. The risk is particularly high as the system approaches from Tuesday to Wednesday.

Residents in parts of Viti Levu, Vanua Levu, the Yasawa and Mamanuca Groups, as well as northern Lau and Lomaiviti, should prepare for strong north to northwesterly winds, with potential damaging gusts in exposed regions. Mariners are advised to stay cautious of rough seas and impaired visibility across all Fiji waters during this time.

Conditions are predicted to improve by Thursday, but the public has been urged to remain vigilant, keep abreast of official weather reports, and take necessary precautions during this unsettled period.
