The Fijian government is actively monitoring escalating tensions in the Middle East, particularly involving the United States, Israel, and Iran. Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Sakiasi Ditoka, has confirmed that Fiji’s diplomatic missions and honorary consuls in the area are maintaining close communication with local authorities and Fijian citizens, ensuring their safety amidst the rising unrest.

Currently, there are no confirmed reports of Fijians being affected by the recent developments. Many Fijians reside and work in Qatar and other Gulf states, and the Ministry is reviewing its contingency plans to ensure quick consular assistance if necessary. Fijians in the region are being advised to remain calm and attentive to the official advisories issued by their host governments. They are also encouraged to maintain contact with their families in Fiji and to register with the nearest Fiji mission if they have not yet done so.

Minister Ditoka reassured the families back home that the situation is being monitored closely, and updates will be provided should circumstances evolve. Importantly, Fiji continues to promote calls for restraint, dialogue, and peaceful solutions to global disputes in alignment with international law.

This proactive approach emphasizes the government’s commitment to the safety of its citizens abroad and highlights Fiji’s stance on fostering peace in international relations. The situation remains tense, but the efforts of the Fijian government reflect a strong dedication to diplomacy and the well-being of its nationals.
