Salanieta Kasami, a recent graduate with a Bachelor’s in Nursing from the University of Fiji, has inspired young women to seize every opportunity for personal and educational growth. In a heartfelt address, she emphasized the importance of strength and faith, stating, “We’ve got strength and faithfulness, so anything is possible.”
The 23-year-old native of Draunivou, Ra, was one of 308 students who celebrated their achievements during the university’s graduation ceremony held in Saweni, Lautoka. Reflecting on her journey, Ms. Kasami noted that challenges have played a vital role in her success. “You must take the challenge as it comes and try to be appreciative of every opportunity that comes by. That’s the sweetness of this great achievement — without the challenges, it wouldn’t be worth it,” she said.
While her academic journey was filled with hurdles, including being away from her home and family in Suva as she resided in a hostel in Namaka, Nadi, she credited her support system for her perseverance. “The support that I have through colleagues and lecturers has helped me financially and emotionally. It was just like all in plan with God’s plan,” she remarked.
Looking ahead, Ms. Kasami is determined to pursue a career in nursing and plans to further her education after gaining a few years of work experience. Her journey showcases the potential for growth and resilience in the face of adversity, serving as a beacon of hope for many aspiring nurses and young women alike.
