Seventy-five members of the Fiji-New Zealand Business Council (FNZBC) convened at a breakfast forum in Lami, featuring Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade, Manoa Kamikamica, and Immigration Minister, Viliame Naupoto, as invited speakers. James Trusler, the council’s president, viewed the turnout as significant, noting it marked a milestone in their journey to achieve 200 members.

Trusler expressed appreciation for the ministers’ participation, emphasizing the importance of dialogue between government and business sectors. He highlighted the ministers’ insights regarding government initiatives aimed at supporting the business community in Fiji.

Additionally, Trusler shared the FNZBC’s ambitious goal to bolster trade between Fiji and New Zealand to $2 billion by 2030. He noted that the breakfast forum serves as a platform for fostering connections among businesses and aligning them with government endeavors to meet this target.

He extended an invitation to businesses interested in joining the FNZBC, encouraging them to visit the council’s website for more information.

This event aligns with ongoing efforts to enhance trade partnerships similar to recent forums held by the Fiji-Australia Business Council. These initiatives underscore the collaborative spirit among Pacific nations and their commitment to economic growth, as seen from shared goals like boosting trade and fostering cross-border investments.

With continuing support and increased membership, the FNZBC’s ambitions for trade expansion demonstrate a positive outlook for future economic cooperation between Fiji and New Zealand.
