Fiji National University has joined forces with Swire Shipping Fijian Drua for its 2024 Open Day, themed “Dream It, Weave It, Achieve It.”
Vice-Chancellor Professor Unaisi Nabobo-Baba expressed excitement about the collaboration, noting that attendees will have the opportunity to meet members of the Fijian Drua team, who represent hard work and determination.
“The Drua players have repeatedly demonstrated that with dedication, teamwork, and perseverance, no challenge is insurmountable. They motivate Fijians of all ages to chase their dreams and face obstacles directly,” she stated.
Professor Nabobo-Baba emphasized the shared commitment between FNU and the Drua in fostering local talent and promoting excellence.
“Just as the Drua skillfully combine their talents for success on the rugby field, FNU integrates knowledge, skills, and opportunities to empower our students to achieve their fullest potential,” she added.
The Open Day will feature interactions with players such as Philip Baselala and Simione Kuruvoli, along with Vani Arei, the Rooster Chicken Fijian Drua Women’s Player of the Year, who will share their experiences.
Fijian Drua Chief Executive Officer Mark Evans and Strength and Conditioning Coach Naca Cawanibuka will also address attendees on October 4.
The event is scheduled to take place at four campuses:
– Nasinu Campus: Friday, October 4 (8:00 AM – 4:00 PM), Saturday, October 5 (9:00 AM – 3:00 PM)
– Naduna Campus: Thursday, October 3-4 (8:00 AM – 4:00 PM)
– Namaka and Natabua Campuses: Friday, October 4 (8:00 AM – 4:00 PM)
