The Fiji National University (FNU) outreach team has made significant strides in promoting educational access for students in remote regions by recently concluding a successful application drive in the Kadavu and Lomaiviti Groups. This initiative underscores FNU’s dedication to breaking down geographical barriers to education, as expressed by Semisi Caucau, a teacher at Koro High School. He commended FNU for its commitment to aiding students, emphasizing that their efforts have opened up new possibilities for the students to pursue their goals.

Caucau expressed gratitude for Ongoing support from FNU, saying, “Your willingness to assist our students with their applications has made a profound impact,” highlighting the positive influence of the university’s outreach on the community. He conveyed optimism for continued collaboration that will further benefit local students.

The outreach campaign featured informative sessions at various schools, such as Vunisea Secondary School, Richmond High School, and Levuka Public School. During these sessions, FNU representatives engaged with Year 12 and Year 13 students, discussing potential academic programs and guiding them through the application procedures.

Vijayta Sharma, the acting outreach manager, noted the enthusiasm from students, particularly at Vunisea, where they actively sought to align FNU’s programs with their career aspirations. She remarked on the palpable excitement among Year 13 students who were eager to explore their options for the upcoming academic year.

In an inspiring turn of events, students at Gau Secondary School demonstrated their commitment by meeting FNU staff on a Saturday to complete application forms. Sharma highlighted this dedication as evidence of the students’ readiness to plan their futures.

The outreach campaign culminated at Levuka Public School, where FNU representatives effectively addressed student questions and provided valuable guidance on the application process.

This initiative not only delivers essential academic information to students but also strengthens the bond between FNU and the local communities, reaffirming the university’s role in empowering students on their educational journeys.

In summary, the outreach program illustrates a hopeful shift towards greater educational opportunities in remote areas, signifying a bright future for aspiring students in Fiji as they navigate their pathways to success.
