The Fiji National University (FNU) has refuted allegations that Council Chairman Semesa Karavaki was prohibited from entering his office, asserting that all Council members and senior management enjoy unrestricted access to FNU facilities across its 17 campuses nationwide. In a statement released yesterday, the University made it clear that there are no entry restrictions in place for any Council or management members.

FNU acknowledged an increased security presence on its campuses, describing the enhanced measures as precautionary in nature. The University indicated that the heightened security is a response to a recent uptick in theft and other incidents affecting campus safety. These measures are aimed at protecting students, staff, visitors, and University property.

Moreover, the institution emphasized that these new security protocols do not hinder the access of authorized personnel, including Council members and senior leadership, who are performing official duties. FNU reassured that all authorized figures continue to enjoy full access across all campuses as part of their responsibilities.

Committed to fostering a safe and conducive learning environment, FNU aims to uphold effective institutional governance. The University reiterated its dedication to transparency, safety, and maintaining strong governance practices within the institution. The proactive steps taken reflect FNU’s commitment to ensure that both students and staff feel secure as they engage in their educational endeavors.
