Fiji National University and Fijian Drua Team Up for an Inspiring Open Day!

Fiji National University (FNU) has collaborated with Swire Shipping Fijian Drua for its 2024 Open Day, themed “Dream It, Weave It, Achieve It.”

Vice-Chancellor Professor Unaisi Nabobo-Baba expressed her excitement about the partnership, which will allow visitors to meet members of the Fijian Drua team, known for their dedication and perseverance.

“The Drua players consistently demonstrate that with hard work, teamwork, and resilience, no challenge is insurmountable. They serve as an inspiration for Fijians of all ages to chase their dreams and confront obstacles directly,” she stated.

Professor Nabobo-Baba highlighted that both FNU and the Drua are committed to developing local talent and fostering excellence. “Similar to how the Drua integrate their skills for success on the rugby field, FNU combines knowledge, skills, and opportunities to empower our students to achieve their highest potential,” she added.

The Open Day will include interactions with players such as Philip Baselala and Simione Kuruvoli, along with Vani Arei, the Rooster Chicken Fijian Drua Women’s Player of the Year, who will share their experiences.

Additionally, Fijian Drua Chief Executive Officer Mark Evans and Strength and Conditioning Coach Naca Cawanibuka will also make presentations on October 4.

The event is scheduled across four campuses:

– Nasinu Campus: Friday, October 4 (8:00 AM – 4:00 PM), Saturday, October 5 (9:00 AM – 3:00 PM)
– Naduna Campus: Thursday, October 3-4 (8:00 AM – 4:00 PM)
– Namaka and Natabua Campuses: Friday, October 4 (8:00 AM – 4:00 PM)
