Fiji National University (FNU) is collaborating with the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua for its 2024 Open Day, themed “Dream It, Weave It, Achieve It.” Scheduled for the Nasinu Campus, the event aims to motivate Fijians and will include interactions with Fijian Drua players such as Philip Baselala and Simione Kuruvoli, along with Vani Arei, the Rooster Chicken Fijian Drua Women’s Player of the Year.
Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the players’ personal journeys and experiences. FNU Vice-Chancellor, Professor Unaisi Nabobo-Baba, emphasized that the event will facilitate connections between attendees and Drua team members, showcasing how aspirations can become reality.
Professor Nabobo-Baba highlighted that the players’ dedication and teamwork exemplify that with hard work and determination, any challenge can be overcome. “Just as the Drua have woven together their talents on the rugby field, FNU weaves together knowledge, skills, and opportunities to support our students in reaching their highest potential,” she stated.
Fijian Drua CEO Mark Evans and celebrated Strength and Conditioning Coach Naca Cawanibuka will also speak at the event, providing insights into the team’s journey on Friday, October 4th. The Open Day is set to take place at four main campuses: Naduna Campus on October 3rd (8:00 AM – 4:00 PM), Namaka and Natabua Campuses on October 4th (8:00 AM – 4:00 PM), and Nasinu Campus on October 4th (8:00 AM – 4:00 PM) and October 5th (9:00 AM – 3:00 PM).
