The Fiji Muslim League (FML) has expressed its dedication to collaborate with the Ministry of Housing and Local Government to assist residents of the Nabua squatter settlement in exploring relocation options. Minister Maciu Naulumisa shared that discussions took place with the FML’s general secretary regarding the matter.

Recently, the FML announced its intention to initiate legal actions to remove approximately 200 families currently living on their property. Nevertheless, Mr. Naulumisa reported that the league has committed to working alongside the ministry throughout the relocation process.

“We have met with the general secretary, who assured us of their support in finding ways to assist in relocating these families,” Naulumisa stated. He acknowledged the scale of the situation, noting that it is a work in progress. He emphasized the necessity of identifying suitable land for relocation, indicating ongoing efforts with other landlords and the lands department to secure available green spaces for the displaced families.

This collaboration between the Fiji Muslim League and the Ministry of Housing and Local Government illustrates a concerted effort to address the housing challenges faced by vulnerable populations. By working together to find viable solutions, both parties demonstrate a commitment to community welfare and the importance of providing safe housing for those in need.

In summary, the FML’s proactive stance and willingness to engage in constructive dialogue with government authorities can pave the way for positive outcomes for the families in Nabua, fostering a sense of hope for better living conditions.
