Fiji Mourning the Loss of Netball Leader and Journalist Wainikiti Waqa Bogidrau

Wainikiti Waqa Bogidrau, a respected figure in Fiji’s sports and media sectors, has sadly passed away. Her family announced her death on social media, revealing that she passed away yesterday.

Waqa Bogidrau served as the president of the Fiji Netball Association from 2010 to 2020, and she was also the current president of the Oceania Netball Federation and a board member of World Netball. Furthermore, she held a significant position at the Fiji National Provident Fund (FNPF), where she was the Acting General Manager of Human Resources.

Before her tenure in sports administration, Mrs. Bogidrau made her mark as a journalist in print media. Her contributions to both journalism and sports leadership have left an indelible impact on her community.

Her funeral is scheduled for January 17.

This loss highlights the significant role she played in advancing netball in Fiji and her dedication to public service through her work at the FNPF. Her legacy will undoubtedly inspire future generations to contribute positively to their communities.
