The Ministry of Education has issued a warning about a misleading announcement circulating online from a fraudulent website posing as the “Fiji Ministry of Education.”
This false statement suggests that all schools in Fiji will be shut down from Wednesday, September 18, to Monday, October 6, 2024, due to an alleged outbreak of monkeypox, claiming that there have been 35 new cases reported.
The Ministry has clarified that this information is entirely incorrect, emphasizing that there has been no announcement regarding school closures.
All educational institutions are open and functioning normally, with no plans for any closures in place.
Additionally, the Ministry is collaborating with the Ministry of Health & Medical Services and confirms that there are no reported cases of monkeypox in Fiji. No directives for school closures or curfews have been issued by the Ministry of Health.
