Fiji Ministry of Education Warns Against Fake School Closure Claims

The Ministry of Education has issued a warning regarding a misleading announcement circulating online from a fraudulent website impersonating the “Fiji Ministry of Education.” The false message claims that all schools in Fiji will be closed from Wednesday, September 18, to Monday, October 6, 2024, due to a reported outbreak of monkeypox, allegedly involving 35 new cases.

The Ministry stresses that this information is entirely false, and there has been no declaration regarding any school closures. Schools continue to operate normally, and there are currently no plans for closures.

In collaboration with the Ministry of Health & Medical Services, the Ministry confirms that there are no cases of monkeypox in Fiji, and no school closures or curfews have been mandated by the Ministry of Health.
