The Ministry of Education has issued a warning regarding a false announcement circulating online from a fraudulent website claiming to be the “Fiji Ministry of Education.”

The misleading announcement asserts that all schools in Fiji will be closed from Wednesday, September 18, to Monday, October 6, 2024, due to a supposed outbreak of monkeypox, with 35 new cases allegedly reported.

The Ministry has clarified that this information is entirely false, emphasizing that no school closures have been announced. All schools continue to operate normally, and there are no intentions to shut them down.

Additionally, the Ministry is collaborating with the Ministry of Health & Medical Services, which has confirmed that there are currently no cases of monkeypox in Fiji, and no directives concerning school closures or curfews have been issued by the Ministry of Health.
