The Ministry of Education has issued a warning regarding a fraudulent announcement circulating on a fake website that is masquerading as the “Fiji Ministry of Education.”
This misleading information falsely states that all schools in Fiji will be shut down from Wednesday, September 18 to Monday, October 6, 2024, in response to a supposed outbreak of monkeypox, claiming 35 new cases have been reported.
The Ministry clarifies that this information is entirely incorrect and emphasizes that there has been no official announcement regarding school closures.
All schools are currently operating as normal, with no plans for closure in place.
Additionally, the Ministry is coordinating with the Ministry of Health & Medical Services and confirms that there are no reported cases of monkeypox in Fiji, nor have any measures for school closures or curfews been advised by health authorities.
