The Ministry of Education has issued a warning to the public regarding a misleading announcement circulating online from a fraudulent website posing as the “Fiji Ministry of Education.”
This false message claims that all schools in Fiji will be closed from Wednesday, September 18, to Monday, October 6, 2024, due to an alleged outbreak of monkeypox, stating that 35 new cases have been reported.
The Ministry emphasizes that this information is entirely false and that there has been no official announcement regarding school closures.
All schools are open and functioning as usual, with no plans for closures. The Ministry is collaborating with the Ministry of Health & Medical Services, which has confirmed that there are currently no cases of monkeypox in Fiji and that no directives for school closures or curfews have been issued by the Ministry of Health.
