Substance abuse undermines the potential of Fiji’s youths, disrupts families, and weakens the fabric of Fijian society, says Home Affairs Minister Pio Tikoduadua.

Speaking at the Natabua High School’s 70th year cadet passing-out parade in Lautoka yesterday, Minister Tikoduadua emphasized that students are a powerful force against the threat of substance abuse.

“You have the strength, discipline, and commitment to lead by example and inspire others to follow a path of health and positivity,” Mr. Tikoduadua said.

“Parents and guardians, your role in this journey is invaluable. Your support, guidance, and encouragement form the foundation of your children’s success. By being actively involved in their lives, you reinforce the values they learn and help them build the resilience needed to resist negative influences and temptations.”

“Your involvement is crucial in shaping them into responsible and resilient adults.”

Mr. Tikoduadua noted that witnessing the discipline, unity, and dedication of the students of Natabua was truly inspiring.

“You are not just cadets; you are the future leaders of our community.”

“Students, your journey here has been marked by hard work and determination. You have learned the value of resilience against challenges, adversity, and negative influences such as drugs.”
