Fiji Minister Celebrates Sea Eagles’ Historic Victory and Youth Development Through Sport

Assistant Minister for Youth and Sports Aliki Bia recently visited Matawailevu Village to participate in festivities celebrating the Namuaniwaqa Sea Eagles’ historic victory in the 2025 Vodafone Cup Premier Men’s Grand Final. The Sea Eagles claimed a thrilling 32-30 win against Vusu Raiders, marking a milestone for the team as they lifted the championship trophy for the first time.

Bia expressed pride in the achievement, congratulating the players, coaches, and supporters for their dedication and team spirit, which contributed to this remarkable success. His visit was not only a celebration of the Sea Eagles’ victory but also an opportunity to discuss the significant role sports play in shaping the lives of young Fijians. He highlighted how rugby league and other sports can empower youth and drive positive change within their communities.

“Sports give our young people the chance to grow, learn discipline, and create a better future for themselves and their families,” Bia said.

During his time in Matawailevu, the Assistant Minister also emphasized various youth initiatives organized by the Ministry, which include training programs and youth centers aimed at supporting those who may not have completed formal education. He encouraged the youth to register their clubs with the Ministry of Youth and Sports to access vital resources and development opportunities.

This visit served as a reminder of the Ministry’s ongoing commitment to youth development through sports across Fiji. It reinforced the idea that sports not only bring communities together in celebration but also inspire young individuals to strive for excellence and engage in productive pathways for their futures.
